The Ikegami clan’s rise to prominence in the region known colloquially as Chuku no Yama or the hollow mountains for the numerous mining done by the people of the region and the dwarves who dwelt beyond. The Ikegami were one of seven clans that resided in the region who regularly warred with each other over the scattered resources of the mountains.
The Ikegami were a nation of soldiery, their martial skill and prowess being legendary in the region for centuries before the 400 year war that eventually resulted in the unification of the seven clans into a united dynasty that spread across the mountain and to the nearby forest and beyond.
When the Survaek came, the Ikegami were at the height of their power, they fought relentlessly against Survaek occupation for over thirty long years, slowly being driven back inch by inch until they were eventually pushed back to the Ikegami manor at Shimaga-jo where a year long siege eventually resulted in the surrender of Nobufuda Ikegami the then Daimyo who committed seppuku in return for sparing the rest of the clan, passing the role of leadership onto his young son Shikio.
The new Daimyo introduced sweeping reforms to further integrate into the Survaek empire, reluctantly accepting Vaekir missionaries though they are looked upon with curiosity at best as most of the Ikegami favor their spirit worship instead.
Shikio sadly died of illness only 40 years into his reign, passing the reigns to his son Naozumi and his granddaughter Satoyo.
