Your Grace, I was disheartened to hear of your break with the Empire. For over a century, we have stood together as brothers, side by side. I would have us do so again. My terms are fair and simple: Lucente will remain an autonomous province within the Empire. The Lucentan populace will be exempt from conscription and military service and half of all taxes collected in Lucente will be spent domestically on improving the province and the lives of its citizens. I realize that there are many sides and voices, all urging you to declare independence and break apart this House that has survived much war and turmoil. I ask again, as the grandson of Francisco Rodrigo, that you stand with us once more. You need not sacrifice any lives, territory, or treasure. If you surrender now and return to the fold, I can promise that there will be no punishment or reparations meted out. If you insist on this destructive course of action, I am afraid that there will be much pointless bloodshed and slaughter. Lucente and its people are of vital import to the Empire as a whole. In the name of Aed, lay down your arms.
