OVERVIEW
Aedak (from the Ancient Messarom word "Aed", meaning "The Only" and the suffix -ak) is a monotheistic religion based on the tenants espoused in the Aedaknam and the more recent teachings of the Prophet-Emperor Raegar, collected into the holy text titled the Raegarnam. Aedak is the worlds largest and most populous religion as well as being the most powerful. It is the official state religion of the Grand Survaek Empire and is ruled by the Vaekirate, a governing hierarchy of clerics directly under the Vaekir. The Vaekirate as an institution was founded by Raegar as a body for reform and to combat the corruption and stagnation be believed was possible in such powerful religious organizations. Aedak first developed in the region of Messara and slowly spread outwards, although it was generally oppressed even in its founding region. Although a holy book did exist at the time, known as the Aedaknam, it was given little credence by those outside of the faith. The religion did not reach its true potential until the first powerful ruler, King of the Khaitis and founder of the First Survaekom Empire, Raegar was successfully converted during his earliest conquests. Through him a sweeping amount of reform was made to the Aedak religion, allowing it to swiftly expand its horizons.
Aedak expressed one main tenant that claims Aed as the one and only god and that all peoples no matter what race or culture must offer praise and worship unto him. Beyond praising Aed as the one, true God Aedak expects of it's adherents to follow three specific virtues expressed in the Aedaknam and further defined in the Raegarnam. All of these virtues are required for all believers, be they the lowliest peasant or the Emperor himself.
As well as it's three virtues Aedak espouses certain concepts about the world that are enforced by the Vaekirate, most notably being the belief that all magically sensitive individuals are gifts from Aed and it is their purpose to serve the faithful. As such it is the Vaekirate's purpose to adopt and induct all magically inclined individuals in the ways of Aedak, to train them how to use their abilities to serve the people, and to better themselves in the journey to such an enlightened state of being. These mages are known as Tovenaar and are taken by the Vaekirate at young ages to learn in the Vaekirate Colleges under the wise tutelage of the Scholars there. They are then sent throughout the lands of the faithful to do good, using their magic to build buildings higher than anything before or to sow and irrigate farmland faster and better than any man could. It is in this role that they serve as everything from social workers, engineers, and givers of wisdom. An assorted few, the most capable of their brethren, are trained as Tovenaar-Akur: militant battle-mages who defend the faithful from all who might threaten them.

- Duty - Aed saw fit to give all beings a purpose, those who do not follow his will are seen as lazy and unfit for society.
- Mastery - Aed has given all things a purpose and as such all must strive to the best of their ability to excel in their purpose.
- Dignity - Dignity in all things, including one's treatment of others. Mutual respect is deserved by all beings who follow Aed’s will and even those who don’t.
