'I pray to Dydor that I die, before you return'
Mikhnavio heard his father's words swirl in his head.
"We are nearly there your excellency" a Subetman slouched in his saddle. Mikhnavio didn't turn to the office-holder, instead lingering his sight on the fields and pastures that rolled towards the city beyond. The Subetman straightened his back.
"I hear Herkaria is divided into themed districts. A melting pot of ideas that must make it, your excellency?" Mikhnavio saw the man gesture his hand to the city. "I'm sure that's true Lugo" Mikhnavio decided to appease the jumped up diplomat.
A rider cantered his horse up the road to them. A banner of the Viikhalakan fluttered from the polearm in his hand. "My Lord, the Kaerschans now know of your impending arrival" the rider bellowed above the thundering of his horse's hooves.
"Very good Katuy" Subetman Lugo shouted to the boy rider as he rode past the leading duo. Joining a triage of carriages and numerous horsemen and followers moving towards the gates of Herkaria.
"Do you think it will take us long to get through the city?" Mikhnavio asked the Subetman.
"It should not your excellency, assuming they now how to treat the heir to the Varakeisari" Lugo chuckled as a quartet of chaincoats overtook them and formed a double column in front of them. Mikhnavio listened to the chaincoats armour rattle and crunch as they hold their lances sit long and tall from the stirrups. Mikhnavio wiped his hand over his long, black moustache. Hearing his stead huff and vague, idle chat in the retinue behind him.
(The Viikhalakans would shortly descent into the great city, to engage the ruling elite in diplomatic talks. The Kevennys (Prince) Mikhnavio is in attendance. Heir to the Varakeisari's throne and to the empire itself. No doubt due to the Varakeisari's aged state?)

It didn't take long for the arrival of the delegation to be noticed by the Imperial authorities, soon enough an escort composed of Kassars Musketeers and Tayit noblemen, in their typical white and black uniforms would meet up with the Viikhalan delegation and guide them to the Imperial District at the center of the city.
In their relatively short path to the Imperial District , they traversed the Torley District which was named after the Duchy of Torley, the duchy was known for its cultural importance in the history of Kaersch, as such, the district had an arts theme to it, with many statues of the Dukes of Torley, fountains that symbolized the river that it had as frontier,
Here the people were more sophisticated and educated than their neighbors since it is inhabited by the rich merchants and artisans, who want to enjoy the same degree of etiquette than the Upper classes take for granted in their respective manors and palaces. Most of the pedestrians would stop to salute the Viikhalakan delegation with a bow and then continue their affairs.
Once they entered the Imperial District things changed a little bit, as here the words opulence and order could pretty much summarize what one could find here, due to a number of statues and grand buildings that they could see, all of which, seemed bigger than the last one. The escort captain a tall man told them that the Imperator and the Aristocratic delegations would expect them at the Foreign Affairs Building known as the "Videsher Majal".
The building was filled with nobles and aristocrats, the scene was divided in five grandstands, each for one Aristocratic delegation, at the center of it a small box in which the representative of the duke, baron, marquis or the like was situated, along with his family or his retinue.
At the center of it all, the Imperator of the Confederation could be found and he stood to welcome the prince and his delegation, the rest of the nobility did as well. He was formaly presented by a pageant , with all his titles and such to the delegation and the audience. Then Alsan II would speak.
"I welcome you and your retinue Kevennys Mikhnavio to Kaersch, I hope that Dydor accompanied you in your journey and you had no problems in your traverse of our countrylands" A small pause while the Imperator and the nobility seated, then he spoke again "Now tell me, what brings the Kevennys of the Varkeisari to my capital?"

Mikhnavio did not find the Kaersch strange. However, he did find them a curious people. He had heard of the Videsher Majal and seen pictures. Yet he did not expect it to be filled with their aristocracy for him.
"Dydor finds me wanting for nothing, this side of the border your highness" Mikhnavio bowed, not low enough to grovel but enough to show respect. An aide followed the prince, as their boots tread up the steps towards the Imperator. In his hands he carried an item wrapped in a white cloth.
"I bear a gift for you your highness" Mikhnavio gestured for the item to be unravelled. It was hilt of a sword, archaic and slightly rusted. It dwarfed the hands of the aide who held it out for inspection. "It is an heirloom of the Almuric giants trespasses down the Teal River and into the Saar. The war-hero Pyartur Uygulaan took it from the giant's warlord at the battle of Vikmaan's Crossing some four centuries ago" Mikhnavio explained, as the artefact was transferred between servants.
"I trust this begins to thank you for your hospitality your highness" Mikhnavio smiled.
"I have come to discuss opening the trade route between Herkaria and Saarsipa-La. As well as to address concerns that may arise in the near-future, regarding the passing of the Varakeisarium from my father to me" Mikhnavio stated.

"A gift well welcomed, It shall be put on the Bahara wing"-said Alsan while two servants grabbed it and took it out of the room. He then would speak back to Mikhnavio
"Hospitality towards our fellow human brothers will always be found here in Kaesrch" These words resonated through the room as several nobles nodded
"Now as for trade, I am sure that it could benefit us greatly and I am that the Marquis Viersey could help you to set up the details later" The Marquis bowed to the Imperator and smiled, he also saluted Mikhnavio and said "It is my honor to serve Imperator"
Then Alsan changed his tone and face to properly adress the international corncerns that Mikhnavio spoke of
"As for your succession, the Imperial Confederation expects that you continue the politics of your father as for their relationship with Kaersch, which is that of peace and sometimes cooperation or will you look for other path Kevennys of the Varakeisarium?"

"You have peace with the Viikhalakan because my father cares for nothing beyond the border" Mikhnavio was blunt. "The Varakeisari has made the empire into a hermit kingdom. That will not do for me" the Kevennys continued with a hand brushing through his moustache.
His eyes glanced around at the nobles and aristocrats in the stands around them.
"Would you not say it is our duty to Dydor, that we rally against the mage kingdoms and pagan nations, your highness?" Mikhnavio dropped his gaze back to the Imperator.
"Especially those who squat along the shores of the Yanitro? Do they not salt the land of the..." Mikhnavio turned to a Subetman, in robes and carrying a packet of scrolls.
Mikhnavio muttered a term in Viikhalak.
"Temporary Empire" the Subetman responded in Kaerschan.
"Yes, the Temporary empire!" Mikhnavio repeated in a more clunky accent.
"I would have it that the Kaersch and the Viikhalakan Empire break bread together and ally" Mikhnavio's accent smoothed out. With a grin for good measure.

The speech of Mikhnavio left some of the nobility surprised and others wondering what he meant by Temporary Empire, a term that many had not heard of between them the Imperator. Who while cult in arts of war and some of humanities, had not given himself time to study other nations culture and language.
"I see Kevennys of Vikkhalakan" Alsan muttered to himself
"It surprises me that you have such initiative for this kind of matters and indeed an alliance would be most welcomed by us, whom still have to reclaim all the lands that are now known as Greater Kaersch but once were rightfully ruled by native Kaerschian rulers"
"But before we go into details please answer the following question, to what do you refer with the term "Temporary Empire"? I don't quite grasp it and if you explain it , you would both a favor to me and to your cause , by allowing me to understand you better "

Mikhnavio cleared his throat, peeling his head around and staring knives into the Subetman-scribe.
"What I mean your highness, the Yana Empire of centuries past were faithful acolytes of Dydor but their empire was temporary" Mikhnavio let out a benign snicker.
"It is our duty, as either direct or indirect successor states, to continue their work towards Dydor and re-establish the faith as the true dominant on the continent!" Mikhnavio continued, It was puzzling how the Kaersch did not know of Temporary Empire. Perhaps the Imperator was a descendant of the returned eastern Kaersch kingdom?
"I would see the Viikhalakan Kohortin and Chaincoats fight with your armies to reclaim your lands and depose the Dalam-Aedak and bring Dydor to their wayward people... I do not wish to rebuild the Temporary Empire, but bring the faith back to the peaks it had achieved then!" Mikhnavio finished.

Once Mikhnavio spoke about the term of the Temporary Empire, the Imperator laughed and smiled , because here in Kaersch they didn-t refer to the Yana Empire as the Temporary empire like the other nations, rather like the Great Yana Empire and such one would refer to it like the Great Empire or the Yana Empire, in order to avoid confusion he returned to talk.
"Oh, that was what you meant. Well here in Kaersch, we almost never use that term with prefer to refer to it as the Great Empire or the Yana Empire, for us it was just an empire, that while blessed by Dydor with splendor and prosperity doesn't mean that it marks a before and an after in our faith, which, of course, is eternal."
"As for your intentions, I indeed applaud them, but intentions alone won't do, we indeed have enemies of the faith in every direction. thus planning and precautions will be necessary....But I see that you which for the good of the faith as a whole as such, I compromise to an alliance with your nation once you become Emperor , once the alliance is signed we will talk about the planning."
With this said the major nobles glanced at each other, knowing that depending on which realm would be the target of this alliance, the nobles could expand their lands and increase their power within the Confederation.
"Now you may stay here or return to your country, here you shall be treated you deserve and if you wish to return I shall assign an escort to you"

"Oh of course your highness" Kevennys Mikhnavio said. He had wondered if the Imperator's knowledge of history was lacking for a moment then.
"I will look forward to the day then when we can meet again as equals" Mikhnavio lifted his warmest smile, before bowing slightly.
"I would wish to stay with my retinue just the night. My scribes would like to discuss the details of trade with your Marquis and we would like to rest before our departure back to the border" the prince regaled the Imperator, looking back to his Subetmen and officials that he had brought with him.
