History:
Hessnya began it's existence as a coalition of human clans that joined in mutual defense and cooperation in the face of aggression from other races. Before they were squabbling clans that could only agree that the world was created after a war between the world gods Croft and Mahl. Croft built the cliffs and the coastline to protect the land from the attacks of Mahl's ocean, eventually though the two gods ended their war and departed from the world, leaving it for the mortals that had fought on both sides. As the clans coalition brought old enemies closer, so to did the bonds solidify between them all, until eventually, after many of the other mortal races lay dead or their aggressions abandoned, did the first Hessnyan's decide upon themselves a kingdom and a king to wear the crown.
The first king was a well liked prince of the Holsh clan that had become refugees after elves forced them out of their territory. He became Keir the first of the house Holsh and built the manor at Keir's climb after climbing up a cliff face to get up to it. Since then kings have risen and passed on, heading off to the otherworld where Croft and Mahl had gone all so many years ago. The city of Wyvern's Landing developed into a moderate port of smugglers more than traditional traders, who preferred the neighboring ports of the Eshara empire or the other states of the southern coastline. Though the Esharan empire made no attempt to subjugate or conquer Hessnya, Hessnyan kings would sometimes pay tributes or lend support to their greater neighbor as a means of preserving themselves from imperial desires.
When the Emperor of Survaek defeated the Esharan fleet, so too had he defeated the Hessnyan fleet, that fought with the Esharans and died with them. As missionaries funneled their way into the kingdom through the port of Wyvern's Landing, Hessnyans who hadn't encountered the religion before and taught the consequences of believing in foreign gods in the past, took it upon themselves on multiple occasions to rid themselves of missionaries. As the conquests of the Survaekom armies came to the kingdoms of the north, so to did the Order, who sort themselves a holy vengeance as they sacked Wyvern's Landing and continued to march north into the countryside against downtrodden Hessnyan troops.
Eventually though, King Rastolav the fourth surrendered his army and his country to the nearest imperial commander (A young commander at that who Rastolav would rather surrender to than the closer and more senior commander of the nearby Order camp) as most of the coastline was lost and months of fighting from the forests was wearing down his men's ability to keep fighting. Rastolav would be known from then on as Rastolav the Broken, until his death seventeen years later.
Since then, the coronation of his eldest son, Casomir the second, has brought a renewed optimism among the subjects of Hessnya. Though there are concerns about the power and strength the Vaekirate has and Hessnyan's are more inclined towards the emperor because of it rather than the religious overlords of the North, especially the new King.
