Sack of Walden
The village of Walden had given much to the King's campaign to pacify the Ironskull. A generation of young men had been conscripted and called to arms, like their grandfathers before them. Only a handful of them had come back from the Southlands, a bitter red harvest. Yet few had expected the war to follow them home.
The King had taken his army south with the intention of once more forcing a battle on the evil that surrounded his land. As a result, there were precious few troops to patrol the long stretches of border and even fewer to defend the isolated border villages.
It was a death sentence for Walden.
The survivors would call them demons, devils, the Scourge of God.
The force of cavalry had slipped past Baemir's borders, easily outpacing the pockets of infantry deployed (that were in no position to stop the massive force of cavalry), and like wolves on a flock of sheep pounced. The village of Walden sitting on the banks of the river was the perfect opportunity.
The bells of the small town tolled, thundering warnings and begging for aid.
None came.
With savage ferocity, the Orc's descended. Within hours, the futile resistance was crushed and the village was in flames. Much in the way the Orc population had been slaughtered at Hrak by Baemiran soldiers, the troops of the Firetooh coalition went house to house, killing and slaughtering without mercy. By sundown, the river was swollen with corpses and the water had turned red with blood.
With their saddlebags heavy with gold and booty, the Firetooth cavalry set off to finda new target. Their mission had yet to be accomplished, there were still more villages to sacked but would their ill gotten gains be their undoing? The plunder had slowed the Firetooth advance considerably and now the Baemiran Army had received word on the movements of their enemy.
NOTES:
-- Firetooth have sacked the village of Walden (Food Village on western riverbank) with minimal losses.
-- The Firetooth have gained six gold.
-- WALDEN is DESTROYED.
-- The advance of the Firetooth cavalry has slowed considerably, the Baemiran army has been alerted and is in a position to react.
