History:
The peoples of the Southern Shore have, mostly peacefully, coexisted with their neighbors to the North, East, and on the southern continent beyond the Sunset Sea for millennia, trading, fishing, and harvesting the plentiful olives, dates, figs and grapes found along their coastal townships and city states. These great cities have dominated much of the culture and history of the Southern Shores for thousands of years, though none as of yet has compared to the might and affluence of Lucente. The Crowned Republic was once the jewel of civilization, and before the rise of the Khaitis dynasty and the faith of Aed was possessed of the largest navy and most prolific nautical trade network in the known world. This, however, was before the rise of the great star of the South over the coasts and byways of her neighbor to the North. As the Southern Empire gained in strength under the rule of their Prophet Emporer and his successors the grand Republic withered and ran dry. Once pure mountain springs turned sour and poisonous upon the lips, the Oracular line of Myrrine died out as they had once prophesied they would, under the shadow of a great star rising in the South, and two centuries of bitter Autumn storms smashed fleet after fleet of war ships and trading galleys to soggy chunks of timber against the rocky cliffs which dominate so much of the Southern Shore’s coastline. Lucente itself remained high atop it’s seaside plateau, but the Republic and all it stood for burned around it, a knowing funeral pyre for the civilization too great to see what was plain before her eyes. The demise of her people.
By the time the Southern fleet engaged the fleets of Eshara at sea under Emporer Yvor the Reformer the Republic couldn’t have stood against a navy a tenth the size of that of the South. Soon they had descended upon the city states of the Republic, casting the coastline alight in strange fire and landing their forces aground at Juturna and Daphne before marching on Lucente herself, dashing the once proud citizens who dared oppose their might upon the marble columns of their home, then dashing the columns upon the sea of flames they had made of the shore. Victory was swift, sure, and terrible. The Great Houses of the Republic nearly extinguished, it fell upon minor branches of the aristocracy to finally bend the knee and swear fealty to the Khaitis line and the new God, Aed, in the ruins of what had been their towns, cities and public forums, the surviving members of the Makris line included. Long before the rise of Survaek and, should the old stories be believed, even before the rise of the Crowned Republic, the aristocratic House of Makris had operated a series of mines, mints, and trading houses, printing the Golden Crowns, Silver Scales, and Copper Blades which had been accepted as currency the known world over during the golden age of the Republic, until finally being granted permission to found the Crown Bank which persisted as an institution beyond reproach until the sack of Lucente saw it looted of every crown, scale, and blade before being demolished due to an unknown commander’s insistence that the rest of the gold must be hidden somewhere in the walls.
Though every last member of the main branch perished during the war, whether from the blade, famine, or disease, the junior branch of the Juturna Makris persisted, though their own city had been sacked, and the senior member of the branch, Janus Makris, swore fealty to their conqueror on behalf of his family and the new Fiefdom of Juturna, becoming the first of his line to ever rule. Of course, he ruled over little more than charred ruins and starving refugees by the time he bent the knee. It took the better part of two decades to reestablish what could only be considered a ghost of the once great city of Juturna, instate a reasonably efficient administrative infrastructure and a self-sufficient populace of fisher folk, laborers and skilled tradespeople from the wreckage of the past, some eighteen odd years which left the King bitter, cold, and weary. His death led to the coronation of his eldest and only child, Kallista Eudokia Makris, as High Queen of the Crowned Republic of Juturna on the Southern Shores. Kallista, unlike her father, is not weary. Occasionally cold, somewhat bitter, but not weary. She has plans, ambitions, and won’t rest until the name Makris stands for something more than a reminder of the former glory of the Crowned Republic and the Southern Shores.

Eh. Could I have done better? Sure. However, seeing as I appear to be the last of our merry band to put up my application I decided to bust this out in an hour and a half and here we are. I'll be adding to the history and writing up a personality section for Kallista over the next few days, but this is essentially the gist of what The Crown Republic is going to look like. Soon as it's accepted and I receive that PM that's supposed to contain the resources and what have you I'll get right on making my first IC post.
