Kingdom Name: Sefti-Cerdigonian Commonwealth
Religion: Orthodox Aedak
History:
A project of incredible ambition, the Sefti-Cerdigonian state is barely thirty years old, yet at its height was one of the most powerful realms in the North. United during the War of Sefti Succession, King Aeron succeeded his father King Cadoc of Cerdigon and grandfather Jotheim of Sefti to form the Commonwealth. Aeron immediately set about a ruthless series of reforms to force the Sylph's and Elves to end their centuries long feud that had spilled so much blood by ending longstanding racial codes that had treated the Elves as inferior.
However, King Aeron was hardly content to keep his current borders. Determined to unite the Sylph's under one banner, Aeron engineered a political union with the Kingdom of Nevara to form the Sefti-Nevaran Union, with King Pedro as his Co-King. This coincided with a Commonwealth invasion of the former Sultanate of Beg Guhrim that gave the Commonwealth a firm foothold in Mog Bhenholm.
By now, the Grand Survaek Empire viewed the Commonwealth as a threat and was making moves to contain it. The Ikagami, the Commonwealth's rivals in the region, were given vast mineral and wealth resource rights within the former Sultanate, while the Jotun raided up and down the Nevaran coast with little repercussions from the Vizier. Incensed at the lack of Imperial Justice and former King Cadoc's execution on trumped up charges, Aeron (with the Vaekirate's support), declared the Commonwealth's independence from Imperial rule. The Commonwealth was joined in its rebellion by the Firetooth Clans and Nevara.
The Fifteen Year War that followed saw mass bloodshed and chaos, with the Commonwealth being assailed from all sides. The Jotun and Imperial Navy came from the sea, the Ikagami from the North and West, while the Imperial Army marched up from the South. The Commonwealth did not have the manpower to compete and withdrew behind a series of defensive lines and river forts to hold the enemy back, while the former Sultanate became a battleground between the Commonwealth and Ikagami. The result was that the Imperial Army and Navy was slowly bled, never able to advance up the Yemi River. In turn, the tides of war changed, as the Imperial Cause lost its important allies to defections and outright rebellion at home.
The collapse of the Empire in the South brought relief in the North from the threat of Imperial armies but it was soon replaced by instability. The Commonwealth was dealing with internal strife, it had lost territory, thousands of men, and now hordes of opportunistic invaders were at her borders. Meanwhile, at home, King Aeron had begun to fade from public life amid rumors of increasingly bizarre behavior and talk of madness. Some even said that the King was possessed by a demon. Whatever the cause, Aeron had increasingly begun to devolve his powers to his wife and House Llewyn, much to the outrage of the Seftian-Cerdigonian noble class.
The crisis in the North however forced King Aeron to take up the sword once more when Cadfael Tangleman launched a massive assault that seized much of the northern territories. With Cadfael threatening the Commonwealth heartland and Thesus iteself, King Aeron launched a counterattack that drove the former mercenary turned King back to the '' new frontier ''. While the front has been stabilized, the threat of Tanglemane in the North has renewed calls for the Commonwealth's exhausted King to lead a new campaign. The question remains whether Aeron still has the capability and the sanity to return the Commonwealth to its former prominence.
