The Aedakom Vaekirate
REGARDING THE NORTHERN CONTRACT . . .
After a long and intense deliberation in the Conclave a theological debate of immense proportion has been official published in the form of a manuscript titled 'A Treatise on the Northern Contract and it's place in Aed's World', authored by Chief Priest Staas of the North with several other notable Chief Priests and High Priests from both the North and the South providing further information. The manuscript concerns the very nature of the Northern Contract from a purely theological standpoint and has birthed a new religious movement regarding the matter. The manuscript determines that, through great study and multiple sources in the Aedaknam and Raegarnam (though concerning the Raegarnam especially as that is the book detailing the powers and Duty of the Emperor of Survaek), there is no theological basis for the Empire of Survaek's dominion over the North based on Aed's word. It is addressed that this is not to say that the Empire was not within it's rights to invade and conquer the heathen north as the Empire of Eshara had deeply wounded the people of Aed and it's well deserved demise was no doubt the will of Aed. The main arguement of the treatise, however, is that now that the majority of the North has been converted to Aedak nowhere in the Aedaknam and especially the Raegarnam does it give the Emperor the right to rule over the North. It goes on to further explain that by forcing the Lords of the North into such a position the Northern Contract has willfully taken away from them their Dignity and Duty as monarchs, whilst further damaging their ability to fully realize their Mastery over their position. The treatise then provides several possible alternatives to the Northern Contract to be deliberated over then agreed upon by all parties involved, including the Emperor of Survaek. For this purpose it provides three distinct possibilities as alternatives:
- The establishment of a Northern Aedak Empire with a democratically elected Emperor. This Empire would be expected to keep ties with the Southern Empire and would nominally accept the Survaek Emperor, as long as he holds title, as the Sword of Aed able to step in during such times that heathens threaten all of Aedak and the Aedakom of the North. This option would require the Northern Lords to protect themselves in most cases and the military forces of the South would be removed except for Surv-Vyaez bases off the coast and the Kerks. Both the Vaekirate and the Empire may keep their holdings in the form of Karmozijn Kerk and New Byrnis respectively.
- The establishment of a Northern Federation nominally ruled and administered by the Emperor. This would do-away with the Emperor's ability to levy taxes on the Northern Kingdoms but would allow the Survaek Emperor to continue supporting the north through military bases funded and supplied by the region's natural resources around it. The Northern Lords, in this idea, would not be expected to protect themselves in extreme situations but would otherwise be required to use their own means to defend themselves and their people during times of conflict. Just as before the Vaekirate and the Empire would be allowed to keep their holdings in the North aside from military outposts.
- The complete dissolving of the Northern Contract in order to allow the Northern Lords the complete freedom to exercise their Duty, Dignity, and Mastery under Aed as monarchs. The North would be expected to purchase all lands previously owned by the South, such as Surv-Akur forts and Surv-Vyaez ports, and would otherwise be expected to economically support the demilitarization of the North perpetrated by the Empire and it's able bureaucrats. The North would then be expected to support itself in all things beyond when the Southern Emperor, whilst holding the title Sword of Aed, along with the Vaekir and the Conclave determined the threat to Aedakom in the North by heathen elements.
The Grand Survaek Empire
REGARDING THE NORTHERN CONTRACT
A declaration of his Majesty, Emperor Vokoryn II Khaitis of the Grand Survaek Empire, King of Byrnia and Raethon, High Chief of the Khaitis and the Southern Tribes, Great Protector of the Islands and Seas, and Overlord of the North. In the instance of his latest announcement, Vaekir Koen I has overstepped the authority of the line of Mouthpieces of Aed and trampled on the birthright of the Heirs of the Prophet, the Swords of Aed. While the Raegarnam makes no explicit mention of the North, the parallels between his Conquest and the Conquest of the North are so obvious that the very notion of questioning the Emperor's right to rule is an insult to the Legacy of Raegar, Aed forever bless his name. When the Prophet was still writing his Holy Book, the Kings of Raethon and Byrnia had converted to Aedak and made true to their promises of spreading and protecting the faith. Did he then "leave them to their Duty and Mastery" without interference? Of course not! The King's duty is not only to his people, but to his King of Kings, his Emperor. His Majesty seeks only to repeat and honor the example of his Great Ancestor and Prophet, as well as the legacy of his honorable father, his late Majesty Emperor Yvor Khaitis. In this he is doing the sacred Duty of the Sword of Aed, to conquer and rule with justice. As such, any vassal-lord who opportunistically withholds tribute or fealty in any respect as outlined by the Northern Contract, using the Vaekir's poisoned decree as pretext, will be charged and punished as a traitor to the Empire under Imperial Law as concerns high treason.
