Chief Priest Staas had arrived in New Byrnis not but an hour prior to his arrival at the Imperial Vizier's Palace in little more than crimson travelling robes; it was not an auspicious occasion and certainly not one he intended to overplay. Despite his status as Chief Priest of the North he certainly did not want this to be more than a personal visit to discuss matters plaguing the North and one especially that held great importance to both himself at the newly appointed Vizier. With that he walked straight into the Vizier's office unannounced, intent on remaining as anonymous as possible when not having to remind guards stopping his advance that he was, in fact, their Chief Priest. Upon final entrance into the office he gave a deep bow, holding up his hands apologetically.
"My apologies, good Vizier," he quickly voiced while stepping forward, "But I had not the time to plan official function nor make you aware of my arrival. We must speak without flair nor fanfare and with as little unnecessary pleasantries as possible as this is a most unpleasant time. I come to speak on the matter of Casomir."

Vizier Adjuran Sujjid, dressed in the black and gold robes of her office, had been hard at work poring over the Northern Imperial Treasury ledgers until the Chief Priest made his surprise entrance. Yet, even as she still sat behind piles of parchment and heavy tomes, she reacted with her characteristic grace and swift thinking.
"Leave us," she said with quick hand-motion to her advisors, who promptly left her alone with Chief Priest Staas.
"No flair or fanfare," Sujjid confirmed, turning to the holy man and giving him a nod. "I take it you bear a reply to my petition. Speak your piece, good Chief Priest."

"My lady," was all he said while the advisers left the room before turning back to the Vizier and continuing, "I do in fact bare the reply you so seek, though I doubt it will be the one you desire."
"King Casomir has removed the Vaekir's options from his benevolent hands with his counter declaration by abjectly insulting Koen and refusing generous punishment. If it had not been for his rash response the Vaekir could have given you the freedom to speak to the man without any consequence but now such things are impossible as you must know. Though, I must say, that your desire to take on the punishment yourself is admirable as is your conviction to a Duty newly received you know as well as I that such things are impossible; it was Casomir who erred in service to Aed and Casomir who must pay the price. It is not said, after all, that Vizier Adjuran Sujjid does not follow Aed. Casomir has proven himself to not only lack the slightest hint of knowledge regarding the Aedaknam nor the Raegarnam but also any form of Dignity for others but himself. Worst of all, he now cowers behind his own people rather than accept punishment in the open; one that certainly would not see harm come to him."

The Vizier of the North's expression tightened. It seemed like she would not be able to save Casomir and avoid a political disaster here, but she was still going to try if she could.
"Good Chief Priest, I am his Patron-Superior, and he is my Client-Subordinate," she pointed out. "Such is the Order of Duty and Dignity. His shameful conduct reflects poorly on me, doing insult to my name and my title. I cannot let him throw out ridiculous heretical declarations, nor can I simply leave him to die from the consequences. Like a Head of Family, my Duty is to dissuade him from his foolishness and childish rage, and to convince him to repent and restore the family honor."

"You are not wrong in your interpretation of the Books and for that I applaud you, Sujjid. But in this you must accept the consequences of this man's actions as much as Casomir himself. Just as all those under Aed's divine and radiant gaze we are all subject to the punishment deserved of our actions; Aed was not blamed for the atrocity committed against Byrnis nor was Aed punished, despite being the late Emperor's superior in all things. Your Duty is now to all of Hessnya for that country and it's people are yet innocent of the crimes committed by the Heretic-Liege Casomir. Save them, not Casomir, from the potential doom of his engineering that now hangs over them like a cloud of ash."

The Vizier of the North nodded somberly. "I disagree with the notion that there is no room for me to intervene on Casomir's behalf, but I submit the matter to your wise judgment. In accordance with my Duty under present circumstances, I will immediately announce the nullification of all honors and titles granted to both King Casomir and Alphared Velhosh as officers of the Husaria. Is there anything else you would have me do, good Chief Priest?"

"Nothing else is necessary but allowing the Vaekirate to dispense justice as is it's Duty to Aed," he said before giving one last bow before turning to walk out, at last showing a bit of his common smile, "Perhaps this whole terrible circumstance will be behind us by the time this season has passed."
