Kegosu.
Gunner Redwater felt keenly out of place in the Ikagami capital. The Dwarf spotted the odd kinsman here and there from the former Sultanate, but the Inquisitor knew that he was alone. There was little enthusiasm for Aedak here and more pressing there was the problem of the Clansman's offical tolerance of the shaming practices that lead to the exile or suicide of those that had been blessed with the touch of magic. That policy was going to end. Now. The Inquistion had set up shop in the center of Kegosu. Hundreds of Wardens were spreading out across the various small villages and towns that dotted the countryside, chasing leads that would lead them towards apostates that hid out in the wilds. Redwater himself remained in the capital, gathering intelligence and waiting for his men to report back.
Meanwhile, the Inqusitor had dispatched a message to the Ikagami authorities requesting a meeting and another message to the local Kerks. He was going to need all the men he could get.

Naozumi met with Gunner Redwater a few days after the request at noon, the man looked well kept but in a particular rush as he entered the office which Redwater had appropriated for himself.
"Ah, Inquisitor, my apologies but I am in something of a rush, what is it you wish to talk about?"

'' My Lord Naozumi, I would request that you make the time...we have important business to discuss. '' The Dwarf said, sitting once Naozumi had done likewise (or doing it anyway if the tall elf chose to stand). '' The Vaekirate has become aware of the Ikagami's...cultural policy of forcing those whom have been borne with the touch of magic to commit seppekku or exile themselves into the wilderness. This must stop. The mages must be turned over to join the Tovenaar. The Inqusition would like the Clans to formally back this with laws that would punish families whom turn out their own blood. You as Lord of these lands could make a major impact in stopping this... I am afraid however that if you do not act, then I will be forced to. ''

Naozumi resisted the urge to sigh, the Vaekirate still didn't understand the Ikegami, Naozumi was certain they never would. This would only make the Warden's work harder, not that he was against them having a harder time but it would be taken out on his people.
"You talk as if I endorse it or force it upon them, or their families for that matter. It is something that they themselves choose to do. Often enough the families don't know about it until it's too late to do anything."
Most times the families of the deceased or exiled never even knew of their family members gifts until after they had already killed or exiled themselves, Naozumi hardly approved of the practice but there was nothing he could do to stop it without instituting totalitarian policies on his people and that he would never do.

'' You may not have a hand in forcing these mages out of their families but your silence on the issue has been noted, my lord. '' The Inquisitors eyes narrowed, muscular arms bracing as his hands grabbed the edges of his desk as the Dwarf leaned in. '' First and foremost, you must issue a proclamation. Ban this practice. Encourage the people to seek out the priesthood for guidance. Set an example with your own nobles and family. Magic is a gift, not a curse. In addition, I will require manpower to help aid in the search for any apostates that may be hiding in the rural parts of your lands. '' By recovering them and incorporating them into the fold, then perhaps they could set an example for future magi that might be born in Ikagami lands.... '' I will also have you know that if I find evidence of families forcing their own kin to committ seppekku, I will arrest them on charges of heresy. It is in our best interest to find mutual common ground on which to tread. A joint effort by both of our forces would go a long way. ''

So this was how it was going to be then? More oppression of his people in the name of 'righteousness'. Naozumi was careful not to let his anger show, nor his annoyance, the proclamation was easy because it would change little amongst his people, the manpower less so but acceptable.
"Very well then, I will certainly take your advice into consideration, please direct your wardens to the gate captain in order to further coordinate efforts. Now I must be off, I have important matters to attend to."
Naozumi left without another word.
