General Ishui Jaou approached the dwarven walls at a measured trot, with one-hundred Khaitis Knights following close behind. He held high a flag of parley, wide hazel eyes gazing up at the defenders with a mix of suspicion and satisfaction.
"Defenders of Thon Origm!" he shouted. "You have stood your ground with great bravery and skill, but now this is a battle you cannot win! I have forty great guns ready to pound your walls into dust and shower you with burning lime, and hundreds more to follow with a hail of hot iron! Do not subject yourselves to this hellfire: Summon your commander that we may discuss the terms of your surrender!"

Ashies Mal'Fahar stood upon the wall. "And who is it that I treat with now?"

General Masateru stood behind the Survaek General, keeping a respectful distance, the Survaek General was above him in rank and thus Masateru was bound to follow his orders barring confliction with that of Lord Naozumi.
He had doubt that the Warlord would truly surrender, not at least without demanding terms that would be humiliating at worst, and unreasonable at best. A Holy War had been declared and Ashies was wanted by the Vaekirate, Masateru intended to see him handed over.

"You treat with General Ishui Jaou of the Surv-Akur, servant of the Sword of Aed and son of Vizier of the North Ishui Seldu, the Sword's speaker in the North!" The General gave the most respectful bow he could from atop his horse. "And what stalwart garrison commander do I treat with?" Jaou knew who Ashies Mal'Fahar was, of course, but he might as well show Dignity to the doomed warlord.

"I am Ashies Mal'Fahar." He stood tall and defiant. "I see no terms worth discussing here. You wish me to hand over my castle to foreigners and that I should go in chains to stand trial before your religion's man in a funny hat. You say you'll destroy the walls with your cannons and then level the keep with your mortars? I say that suits me just fine. You'll have to dig long and hard to get to me!"

"You would sacrifice the lives of all your soldiers and subjects in this manor?!" asked the General, genuinely horrified by the warlord's utterly callous response. War was messy and tragic business enough as it was; why throw away the few codes of mercy available? "Your followers are not rags you can simply...throw away to make a statement of pride!" Ishui Jaou allowed his eyes to settle and shook his head in disgrace. He turned his eyes to survey the other hundreds of dwarves atop the walls.
"If your leader will not even discuss surrender in a formal negotiation, then he has betrayed his duty to you as your liege protector!" he announced to the defenders. "You are not cattle he can simply drive to the slaughter! If he will not come down from these walls to negotiate, throw him down yourselves! Whoevers' arms do the work will have their reward in gold, and you will all have the amnesty of his Majesty Emperor Vokoryn II, Sword of Aed!"

Masateru scowled at the callousness of the warlord, less horrified and more outraged at his demeanor.
"Indeed, throw down your weapons and you will be spared, that dwarf does not deserve your loyalty, I will personally guarantee the safe and fair treatment of everyone of you who surrenders peacefully now, do not make this a bloodbath."

There was a susurrus behind the walls for a time. then a yell came from the wall tops. "Your emperor set the Jotun on us. Go to hell boy." And that was the spark that set off the powder keg. Suddenly arrows were put to strings and shots came down in a encroaching stream towards the general.
