Late in the season a lone rider bearing the insignia of the Ikegami rode to the capital of the Commonwealth and petitioned for a meeting with the King.

The rider would find the King's court mostly empty. The bulk of the nobility were preparing to ride West with the King, there was a large number of Vaekirate officials and Dwarves however. The rider was received not in the throne but in the King's forge, where Aeron was inspecting a new sword that his blacksmith was carving. '' Yes? '' Aeron inquired to the emissary, a brow rising as a squire shined his armor on a nearby rack.

The rider bowed formally before speaking.
"My Lord Naozumi wishes to negotiate and end to this Sultanate issue before Imperial or Vaekirate powers get involved, he offers to not make claim on the recently claimed iron village in exchange for allowing the Ikegami the nearby manor and gold village. In return Lord Naozumi would offer a plan to purchase iron and stone from the Commonwealth, 4,000 jian for every ton of iron and 2,000 jian for every ton of stone."

'' Why does your lord believe that I would ever consent to a fortress on my border? What gurantees does he offer that he will not intervene in my own domestic affairs? '' The King had true cause for concern, the Commonwealth was politically unstable to say the least. The Ikagami had jumped at the chance to intervene in the Sultanate's own civil war.

"My Lord is an honorable man, his goal is to stabilize the Sultanate without harsh Imperial remonstration, and has even agreed to pay for the taxes owed by the Sultanate plus interest to lessen the Imperial backlash. Having a manor nearby would do much to offer them some form of peace. My Lord has no ill plans for the Commonwealth I can assure you and is entirely willing to sign a treaty verifying that fact while recognizing and affirming your claim to the throne against any potential rebels. and to have it witnessed by the Vizier if that would make you more at peace with the arrangement."
In truth having the Commonwealth so close would be good for trade and if some agreement could be made a potential future ally.

'' You should know that I have no intention of stopping my campaign. Getrim will belong to me. I will also be targeting any of the remaining warlords that remain within the Sultanate. The Vaekirate has excommunicated them and I intend to see the heritecs burn for their crimes. '' Not to mention the bounty on their heads would go a long way in filling his dwindling coffers. '' Any war booty that I capture will also be mine. '' It was clear that the King was keen to avenge the defeat of the Juturnan army, as over a thousand Cerdigonian's had been left dead on the field. The Warlords would pay.

The rider nodded.
"How about this arrangement Your Majesty, The Commonwealth takes the Sultanate Capital it will be a haven for trade between our two nations and in return Lord Naozumi takes the nearby gold mine and manor? The previous arrangement for the purchase of iron and stone remains along with rights to the resources in the mountains."

'' Scribe. '' The King said snapping a finger. It took only a few moments to find one and soon he was hard at work as the King dictated the terms of the treaty. '' If your master has entitled you to speak on your behalf, I trust he has entitled you to also sign? '' Aeron said, affixing his seal to the treaty. He assumed this rider whomever he was had to be some sort of noble if he was proposing new terms to their arrangement.
SUMMARY:
-- Ikagami Clan cedes rights to Getrim, the iron within it, and to Mogh Bhelnom to the Commonwealth. -- The Sefti Cerdigonian Commonwealth cedes claims to Thon Origm and all claims to stone and gold rights within the territory of the former Sultanate to the Ikagami Clan.

The Emissary nodded and signed, he had been fully authorized to make whatever deals necessary to get Lord Naozumi's goals attended to.
"It is agreed then."

It was a party of riders that approached the Ikagami capital, Lord Carawyn at their head. Behind him the flag of the Sefti-Navaren Commonwealth flapped in the wind. It was a strange to see such a flag here, while the two nations were neighbors, there was little in the way of relations between the two of them. When he was finally admitted for an audience, Lord Carawyn would give a respectful bow before speaking. '' Noble Daimyo, King Aeron wishes to take part in the war against the Orc threat. However in order to arrive on the battlefield in time, he would access permission to march his force through your lands. ''

Naozumi considered the proposition, the Commonwealth and Ikegami had been relatively avoidant of each other for many years but that was no reason to deny them the chance to quickly fight against the Wastelander threat.
"I will agree to such a proposal, the wastelanders are pouring in through the pass at Fort Riverrock, and reinforcements on that front would put many at ease."

King Aeron sat relaxed at the head of the table, surrounded by Commonwealth officers and soldiers of the Royal Army. At the opposite end of the table, the Ikagami had been invited to the pavillion to discuss a common strategy on confronting the Orc's. The intention of holding the Orc's at the Fortress of Riverrock was now no longer viable. The enemy had defeated the Firetooth and were now streaming across the Ryn River at strength. A map had been strewn across the table, along with little flags that represented the Ikagami and Commonwealth divisions. At last the Commonwealth forces had arrived but the destruction on the Ryn River might have meant that the point was moot.
'' We cannot risk a direct confrontation with the Wastelanders. We are outnumbered by two to one. '' King Aeron said leaning forward to survey the map. '' Our best chance I believe will be to pin the enemy between Thundercrown and ourselves. It seems their intent is to lay siege...but the city is well fortified with men, supplies, and the Vaekirate has dispatched an army as well to aid them. ''

Naozumi was accompanied by his brother and children, they'd rode back to Riverrock after Steelblight, ready to repel a wastelander assault, only to discover that the Firetooth had lost at the Ford and defending the pass at Riverrock was pointless.
"Agreed, staying here serves little purpose now, The only question would be do we go north of the mountain and loop around or South."
North would allow them to retake the Ford and cut off the Wastelander's supplies, while the South might be faster.

'' North. '' The King murmered. '' We are here to finish the Wastelanders, are we not? '' Retaking the Ford would not only cut off the Wastelander's escape but it would cut off their only source of supplies. An army marched on its stomach after all and without food to keep sixty thousand hungry mouths fed....the enemy would wither on the vine and die.

A smart enough decision, though it would take them a bit longer to march around the mountain and then crossing the Ford.
"Your Sylph fliers will make excellent scouts for passes through the mountains, but perhaps you should leave those heavy infantry behind, they'll only delay our march and it is speed that we need now."
