A Sefti-Navaren-Firetooth voting bloc would hold a large share of the power. Of course, they would have to move to keep their enemies from uniting as well. '' I am intrigued. '' Lord Carvin said evenly. '' I am sure that we can force the new Vizier to be amendable to our views. '' Depending on how much he or she wanted to be the new Vizier. Power was a tempting and low hanging fruit after all, just waiting to be plucked. '' What of the troubles on your border? Rumors on the tongues of the priests are that peace is close at hand. '' The elf said, leaning close. Any new alliance was bound to draw the Commonwealth into whatever bloody intrigues the Firetooth we're involved in...and likewise for the Firetooth. It was the price one had to pay.

"We would prefer not to engage in a long, bloody war with the Wolfwyrd over what should have been a diplomatic issue to begin with. Now that the Wolfwyrd have been convinced to sit down and discuss the issue we hope that we can establish a lasting agreement." It was quite the glossing-over for a battle that left several thousand dead, but wasn't that what it came to? Gormith had only gotten a hasty briefing about the situation by letter, but from what he had read it sounded like the battle had been a way to force the Wolfwyrd to stop buildings villages and negotiate.
That, or Tavian Azir had a massive stick up his ass.
"As for our alliance, we would like to establish an agreement: that before either faction makes a declaration or act of foreign policy that will greatly affect the other, that we convene council or, in cases of great haste, inform an ambassador of the situation. I don't make the assumption that we'll agree all the time, but it would enable us to coordinate our policy more wisely."

Lord Carvin smiled, knowing that somewhere in that statement was an omission. BUt he was a diplomat, he was paid to do such things. The Chancellor gave a firm nod at the proposed idea. It would not only allow them to coordinate their policies but their armies. '' We agree. Military cooperation will be paramount for our alliance to succeed. You may trust in me that our Firetooth friends will be kept informed of events as they unfold and we trust that the Chieftains will place the same trust in us. '' The Chancellor stood, a scribe hurrying to dip quill into ink. '' I will let the scribes draw up the former wording for us to sign. ''

"Of course." Gormith replied with a smile. Everything according to plan. "I will of course sign immediately, but we would also like to invite King Aeron to meet and make an oath along with Chief Garlog, as a formal event to seal the alliance."
