History: Several giant tribes lived in the central portion of the mountains on the eastern fringe of 'the West', often troubling attempts at trade caravans and foolish explorers looking for ancient dungeons and the like. One tribe, the Belisark, who worshipped the western Giants' pagan God of War and Order, moved to end the ceaseless intercine combat. Under Roland's grandfather, the Belisark tribe subjugated the other more disorganized Giant tribes of the region, bringing most to heel with ritual combat between the two chieftains. As the tribe grew, the tribe began to integrate the skills of the other tribes, and thus were able to master farming(in the foothills of the West proper), fortifications and even organized cities, after a fashion.
When his grandfather passed down their ancient family greatsword, Mistilteinn, to Roland's father, the new King and Roland both took up the mantle started by Roland's grandfather. They campaigned against the other Giant tribes of the mountains, and won many victories together. It was with great sorrow, that Roland's father was slain while assaulting a large fortified Giant tribe in the northern reaches of the mountain range. Picking up his family sword, Roland led his soldiers in a bloody sack of the fortified mountain town, crushing all stone forts, and setting the wood to flame. It was a testament to his cool-headedness that he did not order any deaths, despite his grief over his father. Now he has returned home, having laid low most of the larger, and potentially threatening tribes and petty kingdoms in the mountains. He has begun to build up the kingdom and looks westward once more to more fertile lands.
