"I would be a fool to deny them," he said with a nod, leaning in over the long paper covered with plans for the future, "And I would be most grateful to have you. Together we shall change the face of the North and perhaps the world, Sayoko. The Ikegami Clan and the United Kingdoms shall change the world for the better, together, just as our children shall grow greater from their widened upbringing. Both true metaphors for the other, I would go as far to say."
"Regarding the name, I had an idea; the original intention was to give it a name in Szekeren, the Old Tongue of the Empire, but perhaps a mix of Ikegami and Szekeren would be more appropriate. Though Szekeren has been mostly lost to time, I believe such a combination will be worthy of a light in the sun. I had thought to call it the Ur, perhaps, if that gives you any ideas?"

Sayoko thought about it for a moment, flattered at the honor given. A suggestion for the new currency? She had a number of thoughts and ideas dance through her head before she found the one she wanted. It had been a long time, since she'd even held one of those old coins.
"In times past, the Ikegami coin was called the yen. Perhaps a combination of those two then, the Uryen. Perhaps a fitting name for this new currency."

"Perfect," the Naryur cooed before rolling the word around in his mouth several times to be sure, "Yes, that will do nicely. The Uryen; though I did not say as much, Ur in old Szekeren affords authority, like a chief. The Uryen shall be the chief of all coins, that is for certain. Together we shall change the face of the North with faces of our own, I think."

Sayoko took a sip of her drink and smiled, she would gladly see a new direction for the North. But there was one thing niggling at the back of her mind. One thing she wanted to explore.
"Yes, new faces for a new coin. for the Ikegami, I would suggest my father, Ikegami Naozumi. Much of the Ikegami's prosperity is thanks to his wise rule."

"I agree, it would be most wise to emblazon such a figure upon our coins; Naozumi is most famed for his wisdom and would be rightly represented by our goals for the Uryen. I shall propose my father as well; it would be a fitting idea to hold such men, who sought peace and prosperity, upon a pedestal they rightly deserve."

To my honored friend, Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan,
I write this, now, from my chambers in Haven; mine eyes and those of the Orzag turned southward when this civil war broke out within the Esharan Empire, worried deeply by the reasons and the meanings behind it. I have found, at least in Ontare, that these people wish for the same things your father did during his secession from the Southern realms. This I can understand. But now, on this most distressing of days, our peoples find themselves bordered by wars of others; to our north you set forth to do battle with my storm worshiping cousins for orcish lands and to our east the Civil War brews and more nations bray at the Empire's edges. Our peoples are as brothers of same mind and same purpose. Here, in this city of men with ceilings that nearly take my head with each step, I have received a vision of a future far more promising than the ones that stand before us separate.
When I last left my halls your son Tenzin and my young daughter Erika seemed inseparable. They both have a mind for coins and coffers and speak every moment they have breath in their lungs about all number of things churning in their minds. It brings to mind a thought; in the old Empire, as it is here in the south, two hearths could be brought together through the union of two of their scions. In the Far North it meant something far different but I believe, together, we might forge our two nations into a single, stronger whole. I propose, if they both consent, a marriage between Ikegami Tenzin and Erika Szaboya-Szekeres. With this union, as is the custom of these lands and of new Almuria, we would do away with the mutual defensive pact that currently stands between our nations and replace it with a true alliance. Let no nation, no matter their might, turn their hungry gaze upon our peoples with thought of gain and chance of success. The finer details of this arrangement can be made in person or through the diplomats in our homelands but I had thought it unacceptable to have any but myself give this proposal.
Ever faithful, Naryur Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres

To His Valiance, The Naryur, Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres, my comrade in arms and spirit.
I find myself most pleased to receive your missive, doubly so for the contents of the letter. Allow me to say firstly, that I am pleased that Tenzin has found companionship during his time there and that should the two consent I would be more than willing to give permission to such a marriage. I would be overjoyed to unite both our hearths and clans in an alliance with which to protect and ensure the safeties of our people against the numerous threats on our borders. Should any threat be posed against one of us, they shall threaten both and be made aware of that folly.
Once this conflict with the Sacrye giants is concluded I would gladly travel to Mog Bhelnom to discuss more of this in detail with you, my friend.
With Respect and Honour Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan.

To My Honored Friend, Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan,
I hope the war continues in your favor; I have been much distracted as of late. With the hurt in the world that begins to poison all those around us, I would seek to bring our houses together with haste granted by Aed himself. Let us celebrate a small bit of happiness to remind the world that such things yet exist in these troubled times. If you would be so pleased, I should have the wedding take place here in Mog Bhelnom. It is Almuric custom that the father of the bridge put forth the ceremony and I would see no other greater cause to lavish my wealth upon.

To the most honorable and respectable Naryur Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres
The war drags on, and looks to be continuing for some time, but I would be overjoyed to unite our two families in this manner as quickly as is possible and practical for both of us. If you desire to host the wedding in Mog Bhelnom then I would eagerly agree. Simply give me a time and place, and I will see my end of this done. I await eagerly both your reply and the wedding proper.
Your friend and admirer. Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko, of the Ikegami Clan.

To My Honored Friend, Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan,
It pains me to see your war continued to keep you away from your people. Despite this, I am glad we share a vision for a better and brighter future. The wedding shall be held this winter, on the Solstice as Almuric tradition prefers, in the Sultan's Palace in Mog Bhelnom. The gardens there, commissioned by my father, may he rest with Aed and his ancestors, shall make for an excellent grounds on which the wedding shall take place. As said, the wedding shall be paid for entirely by my household; simply honor my family with your presence. The ceremony shall be small, as I do not wish to parade our family like some trophy, but meaningful; invite any who you believe deserve a seat and they shall be most welcomed.
While you are here, I would be most pleased to discuss with you an idea of mine. The academics of our two nations are both extensive and greatly praised for their wisdom and skill and in light of our growing union I have a proposal; the Szekeren language, though quite dead but for use by the Seers and the enigmatic Artificers, has long occupied my thoughts. If you would see fit, I would bring academia from all across the United Kingdom and the Ikegami Clan together to revive this language, adding to it from all walks of our peoples. Though it will not be easy, if there any in the North capable it would be those wise minds in Ashigara and Var Szekerog who could manage such a thing.

To my Honored Friend, Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan,
I hear good things from the front! May your victory come swiftly or your defeat softly. With the annexation and integration of Ontare into the United Kingdoms, I believe it is time to begin upon a new shared interest of our two peoples'. Long has the Ikegami Clan and the Gospodars and their brethren been close at hand; the recent royal marriage ties us as one House and with the first child, as one Kin.
I propose the following; let our two nations come together to form a new and greater whole. Long have we labored with the creation of a shared language, the fruits of which are still underway. Our economies are more intertwined than any other two nations and our citizens pass freely between our lands. The once-grand Esharan Empire has stepped aside into history, leaving the North without a true power. Let us come together, hand in hand, as a NEW Empire; not Ikegami, nor Almuric. Let us then rise together into the march of history, as the Szekeran Empire! Long may the twin mountains reign.
Ever your Most-Devoted Friend, Naryur Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres.

To the Naryur Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres, my honorable and trusted friend, and kin in all but blood.
This note comes to you, dictated at the hands of my brother Yukimura, for I suffered a most grievous injury in the battle just recently. Yet, despite this my trusted healer Furutaka tends to my injuries and she believes I will live. Despite this wound, I feel invigorated in a way I haven't felt in years. My foe was a truly valiant opponent, skilled and devoted to his cause. I took his head after receiving this injury, and I shall endeavor to see his tale remembered throughout the annals of history.
I write to you now in response to your letter and offer of a full union. I admit, the idea is intriguing and one I can see no objection to, our people share a kindred spirit in many ways, and I believe in time we will come together as one to stand before all the world. They will see the might and valor of the Two Mountains. I dictate this to you now, so that should the worst happen and I succumb to my injuries, none shall doubt my commitment to this union.
Your devoted friend, now and always. Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko, of the Ikegami clan.

To my Honored Friend, Daimyo Ikegami Sayoko of the Ikegami Clan,
This news brings pride and joy to my heart as nothing before ever has. Together our two nations shall become one in perpetuity and be the shining beacon of prosperity and unity in the North that has been missing for too long. The exact reforms and works to be done in order to accomplish such a feat shall be met when you return to your homeland.
Before such a time, however, I must ask of you a boon. To the west of Gusko's rest rises a vast host under the Sylphan warlord of the Usakhs; hundreds of thousands of sylph warriors, if I am to trust the eyes of my scouts and spies. The majority of the Royal Army of Almuria is there present alongside the defending Kalmari but I fear this shall not be enough. Despite the doom threatened by these barbarian hordes your army holds a fortuitous position in the eyes of fate. If I have not been deceived, your forces remain close at hand to Gusko's Rest leaving the Kalmari Ecclesiarchy nearer to you than the United Kingdoms.
I beseech you to join us in our resistance against the Usakh hordes, to stand beside my forces under the command of my son. As I understand, the war with the Sacrye comes to a close and your duty stands finished. If it is in the bones of fate, then my son shall greet you on a western battlefield.
Ever your Most-Devoted Friend, Naryur Kharok Szaboyar-Szekeres.
