The Firetooth Clan
Race: Orcs
Warlike: The one true home of all orcs is the battlefield .
Orc’s start with one additional military doctrine point.
Savage: Most of the other races are reluctant to refer to the works of the orcs as civilization.
Orc's splendor is treated as 25% lower than it's true total.
Religion: Orthodox Aedak
The Firetooth's alliance with the distant Messaran Vaekirate is a time-honored tradition by now. The legitimacy and support the Vaekirate provides has given the Fireooth the authority they need to expand the Clan's influence and strengthen the centralization of its government, while the Church has seen Firetooth missionaries spread Aedakom to millions of Orcs across the wastes and beyond. Religion is still quite varied without the Greater Tribe of Orcland however - Orcish Aedak and its interpretations are quite common, and while no major clan is officially pagan, there are still many Houses that follow the old ways. This diversity has lead the Firetooth to adhere to a liberal version of Aedak, adhering to the tenants of the Vaekirate while emphasizing the need for missionaries and education over violence.
Monarch: Artog Aedsword
The current chief hails from the great family of Aedsword, the first Firetooth House to adopt Aedakom centuries ago. That prestige, and the support of the clergy, helped push Artog into power. He is extremely well traveled, even for a Firetooth, having visited Messara on pilgrimage, attended the great courts of the Southern Continent, walked among the Jotun Islands and seen the ancient monasteries of the Ikegami.
He was not particularly impressed.
As Chief Artog has emphasized the unique and special traits of the Orcs as a people, fully embracing the rising tides of nationalism that begun over a century ago.
Capital: Thundercrown
Ancient capital of the Firetooth, and now the capital of the Greater Tribe of Orcland, Thundercrown has grown prodigiously in the last hundred years. The remnants of its fortress-city past still dominate the great hills overlooking the city, but now they are surrounded by an enormous sprawl of housing, industry and commerce that dominates trade and industry in the northwest.
Provinces:
The Blacklands
Traditional homeland of the Firetooth and the heart of their Clan, the Blacklands are called as such for the rich, if rocky, black soil that defines the area. It is immensely fertile agriculturally, and produces most of the food that feeds the great city of Thundercrown. Thousands of towns dot the region, which has had millennia of development.
The Urag Mountains
Khamar Plains
The Barrow Lands
Egrath Lowlands
Eastlands
Military:
2 Foot Gurad
2 Horse Artillery
6 Field Artillery
3 Cuirassiers
2 Sappers
History:
In the last hundred years the Firetooth Clan's history has become more and more entwined with that of their creation: The Greater Tribe of Orcland. This hegemony of multiple Orcish Clans has given the Firetooth an outsized influence over the region and made them one of the Great Powers of the continent. The Tribe was established almost one century ago under the rule of Chief Hortak of the Firetooth. Hortak used the presence of foreign settlers who had encroached on orcish lands, and the threat of the Sacrye to the north, as an excuse to establish a great alliance of Orcish Clans and drive away threats to the region. With Firetooth leadership and Orcish strength thus established, he proposed the creation of a Tribe consisting of the Ironspear, Ironskull, Stonefoot, Jaggedfoot and Firetooth Clans.
The proposal was a success, and as the most populous and technologically advanced Clan the Firetooth took the leading role, speaking for the other Clans internationally and championing Orcish interests. Since then the Clan has continued to grow, expanding its influence over the Wasteland regions and developing its armed forces. The inception of auxiliary corps made up of wastelander cavalry and the founding of military field schools has put the Firetooth near the forefront in the arts of war.
Conflict still simmers around them, however. The Firetooth are still the Guardians of the West - whereas before they defended the north against their wastelander brethren, they now stand as a bulwark against the Sacrye giants. Successive raids and counter-raids have only convinced the Firetooth more than ever that war is coming to their northern border. The issue of the Wolfwyrd remains as well - the one Great Clan that has refused to join the Tribe of Orcland. Repeated threats, negotiations and invitations have not swayed them, and their enmity with the Firetooth burns deep even after almost two centuries.
